Dosage

Adults

Mechanism of Action

Cefuroxime axetil is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in the intestinal mucosa and blood to release cefuroxime. Cefuroxime is a bactericidal antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thus preventing peptidoglycan synthesis.
