Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
250 mg to 500 mg twice daily, depending on the severity and type of infection. For this 500 mg tablet, typically 500 mg twice daily.
Elderly
Similar to adult dosage, but caution and dosage adjustment may be required in elderly patients with reduced renal function.
Renal_impairment
Dosage must be reduced in patients with significant renal impairment. Refer to specific guidelines based on creatinine clearance.
How to Take
Take orally, preferably with food to enhance absorption. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
