Zibac 200 mg Suspension contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Adult dosage varies by infection; typically 500 mg once daily for 3 days or 500 mg on day 1 followed by 250 mg once daily for 4 days.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required, but caution in patients with underlying cardiac conditions.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment necessary for mild to moderate renal impairment; caution in severe impairment.
How to Take
Shake well before use. Can be taken with or without food. Administer orally using the provided measuring device.
Mechanism of Action
Azithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby blocking the translocation of peptides.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to azithromycin or any macrolide antibiotic
- •History of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction associated with prior azithromycin use
Drug Interactions
Digoxin
Increased digoxin levels.
Antacids
Decreased peak plasma levels of azithromycin, take azithromycin at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after antacids.
Warfarin
Increased anticoagulant effect, monitor INR.
Nelfinavir
Increased azithromycin concentrations.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze the reconstituted suspension.
Overdose
Symptoms may include severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage and general supportive measures.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk, use with caution or consult a doctor.
