Clinical Trials

Several clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy and safety of Diacerein in the treatment of osteoarthritis, showing beneficial effects on pain, function, and reduction in joint space narrowing.

Lab Monitoring

• Liver function tests (before initiation and periodically during treatment, especially in patients with pre-existing liver conditions)
• Renal function monitoring (in patients with renal impairment)

Doctor Notes

• Monitor patient's liver function tests periodically, especially before starting treatment and during the first 6 months.
• Advise patients about potential gastrointestinal side effects, particularly diarrhea, and manage accordingly.
• Not recommended for patients with existing inflammatory bowel disease or severe liver impairment.

Patient Guidelines

• Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Always take it with food.
• Report any severe diarrhea or abdominal pain to your doctor.
• Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Missed Dose Advice

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Driving Precautions

This medicine is generally not known to impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience dizziness or fatigue, avoid such activities.
