Take Avloclav BID orally at the start of a meal to reduce potential gastrointestinal intolerance and to optimize absorption. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanate potassium inactivates beta-lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria, which would otherwise degrade amoxicillin, thereby extending amoxicillin's antibacterial spectrum.

• •Known hypersensitivity to penicillin or any component of Avloclav BID
• •History of serious hypersensitivity reaction to any other beta-lactam antibacterial agent
• •History of Avloclav BID-associated jaundice or hepatic dysfunction

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms of overdose may include gastrointestinal symptoms and disturbances of fluid and electrolyte balance. Crystalluria, in some cases leading to renal failure, has been observed. Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive, with attention to fluid and electrolyte balance. Hemodialysis can remove both amoxicillin and clavulanate from circulation.

Pregnancy Category B. Studies in animals have not shown harm to the fetus, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women are lacking. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Both amoxicillin and clavulanate are excreted into breast milk; use with caution in nursing mothers.
