Overview of the medicine
Bilastine is a non-sedating, long-acting H1-antihistamine used for symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
20 mg once daily
Elderly
No dose adjustment generally required.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment required for mild to moderate impairment. For severe impairment, caution is advised.
How to Take
Take orally, one hour before or two hours after food or fruit juice.
Mechanism of Action
Bilastine selectively antagonizes peripheral H1 receptors, blocking histamine action and thus reducing allergic symptoms.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Bilastine or any component of the tablet.
- Children under 12 years of age (for 20 mg tablet).
Drug Interactions
Diltiazem
May increase bilastine exposure.
Grapefruit juice
Reduces oral bioavailability.
Ketoconazole/Erythromycin
Can increase bilastine plasma levels due to P-gp inhibition.
