Cibrate 100 mg Tablet is an antibiotic belonging to the cephalosporin group. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, ear, nose, throat, and skin.

Acute otitis media

Dosage

Adults

Usually 200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily. For uncomplicated gonorrhea, a single dose of 400 mg.

Elderly

No specific dosage adjustment is required unless there is severe renal impairment.

Renal_impairment

For creatinine clearance 21-60 mL/min, dose should be reduced to 75% of the standard dose. For creatinine clearance <20 mL/min, dose should be reduced to 50% of the standard dose.

How to Take

Cibrate 100 mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.

Mechanism of Action

Cefixime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, thereby inhibiting the third and final stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins.
