Description
Overview of the medicine
Cotson 100 mg Injection contains Cotsolone Sodium Succinate, a potent synthetic corticosteroid indicated for various inflammatory, allergic, and immunosuppressive conditions. It is administered parenterally for rapid and effective relief.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initially 40-100 mg IV/IM, then adjusted based on response. Max 250 mg every 4-6 hours in severe cases.
Elderly
Lower doses may be required; caution advised due to increased risk of side effects.

How to Take
Administer intravenously (IV) slowly over several minutes or intramuscularly (IM) deep into a large muscle. Do not administer intrathecally.
Mechanism of Action
Cotsolone, a glucocorticoid, acts by binding to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, leading to altered gene expression. This results in broad anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and reducing immune cell activity.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 30-60 minutes after IV administration, 1-2 hours after IM.
Excretion
Mainly renal, as inactive metabolites.
Half life
Biological half-life 18-36 hours; plasma half-life 2-4 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly and almost completely absorbed after intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) administration.
Metabolism
Primarily hepatic, converted to inactive metabolites.
