Description
Overview of the medicine
Magaldrate Plus 400 mg Suspension is an antacid and antiflatulent medication used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, and gas. It contains Magaldrate, which neutralizes stomach acid, and Simethicone, which helps break down gas bubbles.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 3-4 times daily, between meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage, consult physician if other medications are taken.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution in severe renal impairment due to potential accumulation of magnesium and aluminum. Consult a physician.
How to Take
Shake well before use. Take orally between meals and at bedtime. Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Mechanism of Action
Magaldrate reacts with stomach acid to form a neutral salt, increasing gastric pH and reducing pepsin activity. Simethicone acts as an antifoaming agent, reducing surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, allowing them to coalesce and be easily expelled.
