Uses & Indications

Short-term treatment of severe anxiety

Panic attacks with or without agoraphobia

Adjunct in the treatment of anxiety associated with depression

Insomnia due to anxiety (short-term)

Dosage

Adults

Typical starting dose for anxiety is 3 mg, 2-3 times daily. May be increased up to 6-12 mg daily in divided doses for severe cases. Max 18-30 mg/day depending on indication and patient response.

Elderly

Lower doses are recommended, e.g., 1.5 mg, 2-3 times daily, to minimize sedation and ataxia.
