Description
Overview of the medicine
Clindax-1 Lotion contains clindamycin phosphate, a lincosamide antibiotic, formulated for topical application. It is primarily used to treat acne vulgaris by inhibiting bacterial growth and reducing inflammatory lesions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily, morning and evening.

How to Take
For external use only. Apply a thin film to the affected skin area after washing and drying. Gently rub in. Wash hands thoroughly after application.

Benzoyl Peroxide topical
Concurrent use may increase skin irritation or reduce clindamycin effectiveness.
Neuromuscular blocking agents
Clindamycin has neuromuscular blocking properties and may enhance the action of other neuromuscular blocking agents.
Storage
Store below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Overdose with topical clindamycin is unlikely due to minimal systemic absorption. If accidental ingestion occurs, seek medical advice. Management is generally supportive.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Studies in animals have shown no evidence of harm to the fetus, but there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Use only if clearly needed. It is not known if clindamycin is excreted in human milk after topical application, but caution is advised in nursing mothers.

Lab Monitoring
- No routine lab monitoring is required for topical clindamycin due to minimal systemic absorption.
Doctor Notes
- Advise patients on the importance of consistent application for optimal results.
- Consider combination therapy with retinoids or benzoyl peroxide for enhanced efficacy, but monitor for increased irritation.
- While rare, counsel patients to report severe or persistent diarrhea, as *C. difficile* associated colitis is a potential, albeit very low, risk with topical clindamycin.
Patient Guidelines
- For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, and any open cuts or irritated skin.
- Do not use on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped, or broken skin.
- Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
- Be consistent with application for best results.
- Inform your doctor if irritation or allergic reaction occurs.
Missed Dose Advice
If a dose is missed, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Driving Precautions
Topical clindamycin is not expected to affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
Lifestyle Advice
- Maintain a consistent, gentle skincare routine.
- Use non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging) skincare and makeup products.
