Cofcut-75 mg syrup contains Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, a cough suppressant used to temporarily relieve cough caused by the common cold, flu, or other irritations.

Uses & Indications

Temporary relief of cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation associated with the common cold or inhaled irritants.

Symptomatic relief of non-productive (dry) cough.

Cough associated with flu.

Dosage

Adults

15 ml (containing 75 mg Dextromethorphan HBr) every 6-8 hours as needed, not to exceed 4 doses (60 ml) in 24 hours. Use a calibrated measuring device.

Elderly

Similar to adult dosage; however, start with a lower dose and monitor for adverse effects due to potential altered metabolism or renal function.

Use with caution. Dose adjustment may be necessary depending on the degree of renal impairment. Consult a physician.

How to Take

Contraindications

Drug Interactions

Alcohol and other CNS depressants

May enhance sedative effects and impair psychomotor performance.

MAOIs (e.g., phenelzine, selegiline)

Risk of serotonin syndrome (symptoms include agitation, hallucinations, rapid heart beat, fever, overactive reflexes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea).

SSRIs (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine) and other serotonergic drugs

Increased risk of serotonin syndrome.

Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, ataxia, nystagmus, blurred vision, respiratory depression, and in severe cases, serotonin syndrome. Management includes symptomatic and supportive care, activated charcoal if ingestion is recent.
