Description
Overview of the medicine
Condia-1 mg tablet is a novel oral antidiabetic medication used to improve glycemic control in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose is 1 mg once daily, adjusted based on glycemic response and tolerability. Maximum recommended dose is 4 mg daily.
Elderly
Start with a lower dose (e.g., 0.5 mg once daily) and titrate carefully, considering potential renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment is required. Not recommended in severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73m²).
How to Take
Take orally, once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Condiazol works by improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues and reducing hepatic glucose production, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 1 hour of administration.
Excretion
Excreted predominantly via the renal route (urine), with some fecal excretion.
Half life
Approximately 8-12 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver, mainly via the cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme system.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Condiazol or any excipients.
- Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
- Diabetic ketoacidosis.
Drug Interactions
Sulfonylureas and Insulin
Concurrent use with sulfonylureas or insulin may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Close monitoring of blood glucose is recommended, and dose adjustment of either agent may be required.
CYP3A4 Inducers (e.g., Rifampicin, Carbamazepine)
Co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inducers may decrease plasma concentrations of Condiazol, potentially reducing its therapeutic effect. Dose adjustment may be necessary.
CYP3A4 Inhibitors (e.g., Ketoconazole, Ritonavir)
Co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase plasma concentrations of Condiazol, potentially leading to an increased risk of hypoglycemia. Dose adjustment may be necessary.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, symptomatic management and supportive care should be initiated. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. There is no specific antidote.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during pregnancy or lactation unless the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant. Consult a healthcare professional.
