Description
Overview of the medicine
Dexotix 60 mg tablet is an antidepressant medication primarily used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. It works by restoring the balance of a natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 30 mg once daily, may be increased to 60 mg once daily after several weeks if needed, based on clinical response and tolerability.
Elderly
Initial dose 15 mg once daily, gradually titrate upwards with caution, considering reduced renal and hepatic function.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate renal impairment may require dose adjustment; use with caution in severe impairment.
How to Take
Take Dexotix 60 mg tablet orally once daily, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or break it.
Mechanism of Action
Dexotix selectively inhibits the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) into presynaptic neurons, thereby increasing the concentration of serotonin in the synaptic cleft. This leads to enhanced serotonergic neurotransmission and improvement in mood and anxiety symptoms.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Therapeutic effects typically begin within 2-4 weeks, with full effect potentially taking longer.
Excretion
Mainly excreted via urine (60%) and feces (40%) as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 25-30 hours, allowing for once-daily dosing.
Absorption
Rapidly and well absorbed after oral administration, reaching peak plasma concentrations within 2-4 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 enzymes, into active and inactive metabolites.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Dexotine or any of its components.
- Concomitant use with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
