Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
15-30 mg every 4-8 hours as needed, not to exceed 120 mg in 24 hours.
Elderly
Same as adult dose, but caution advised due to potential for increased sensitivity.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution. Dose reduction may be necessary in severe renal impairment. Consult a doctor.
How to Take
May be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Dextromethorphan acts centrally on the cough center in the medulla oblongata to elevate the cough threshold, thereby suppressing cough. It is a non-opioid antitussive.

Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs)
Increased risk of serotonin syndrome when co-administered.
