Overview of the medicine
Lantid 30 mg capsule is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce stomach acid production. It is prescribed for the treatment of various acid-related conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For GERD: 30 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. For duodenal ulcer: 30 mg once daily for 2-4 weeks. For gastric ulcer: 30 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. For H. pylori eradication: 30 mg twice daily in combination therapy for 10-14 days. For Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initial dose 60 mg once daily, adjusted as needed.
Elderly
Generally no dosage adjustment required, but monitor carefully.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment needed for patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
Take the capsule orally, preferably in the morning before a meal. Do not chew or crush the capsule.
Mechanism of Action
Lansoprazole irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) enzyme in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion.
