Description
Overview of the medicine
Arthrosin 250 mg Tablet contains Glucosamine Sulfate, a natural compound found in cartilage. It is used to help build and repair cartilage, alleviate joint pain, and improve mobility in conditions like osteoarthritis.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Oral, 1-2 tablets (250-500 mg) three times daily, or as directed by physician. Effects may take several weeks to appear.

How to Take
Take tablets orally with water, preferably with meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Mechanism of Action
Glucosamine is a precursor for glycosaminoglycans, a major component of cartilage. It stimulates the synthesis of proteoglycans and collagen, which are essential for maintaining cartilage structure and function. It may also have anti-inflammatory effects.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Therapeutic effects typically observed after 2-4 weeks of continuous use.
Excretion
Mainly via urine (up to 10%) and feces (up to 11%), with a significant portion being incorporated into tissues.
Half life
Approximately 15-18 hours.
Absorption
Approximately 90% oral absorption, with systemic bioavailability ranging from 25-26% due to first-pass metabolism.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver to smaller molecules, including amino acids, and some non-metabolized portion passes through.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Glucosamine Sulfate or any excipients
- Allergy to shellfish (if derived from shellfish)

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
