Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
150-450 mg every 6-8 hours, depending on the severity of infection.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment is generally required, but monitor renal and hepatic function.

No dose adjustment needed for mild to moderate impairment; for severe impairment, consider lengthening dosing interval or reducing dose.
How to Take
Take orally with a full glass of water to prevent esophageal irritation. Can be taken with or without food.
Mechanism of Action

Drug Interactions
Erythromycin
Antagonistic effects, concurrent use not recommended.
Oral typhoid vaccine
Antibiotics may decrease the therapeutic effect of the live oral typhoid vaccine.
Neuromuscular blockers
May enhance the action of neuromuscular blocking agents, leading to increased or prolonged muscle paralysis.

Overdose
In case of overdose, symptomatic and supportive measures should be taken. Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are not effective in removing clindamycin from the blood.
