Uses & Indications

Acute spasms of the gastrointestinal tract (e.g., irritable bowel syndrome, gastric and duodenal ulcer pain)

Spasms of the genitourinary tract (e.g., renal or ureteric colic, bladder spasms)

Spasms of the biliary tract (e.g., biliary colic)

Adjunct in diagnostic procedures where spasm may be a problem (e.g., endoscopy, radiography)

Dosage

Adults

20 mg intravenously or intramuscularly, repeated every 30 minutes if necessary, but total daily dose not to exceed 100 mg.

Elderly

Similar to adult dose, but caution should be exercised and dosage may need adjustment based on renal/hepatic function.
