Description
Overview of the medicine
iventi-d eye drop is a combination medicine containing Moxifloxacin (a fluoroquinolone antibiotic) and Dexamethasone (a corticosteroid). It is used to treat bacterial eye infections and inflammation.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
1 drop in the affected eye(s) 2-4 times daily, or as directed by a physician. Treatment duration is typically 5-7 days.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required; use as per adult dosage, or as advised by a physician.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment required for renal impairment, as systemic absorption is minimal.
How to Take
For topical ophthalmic use only. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch, instill one drop into the pouch. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or any other surface. Wash hands before and after use. Remove contact lenses before application and reinsert 15 minutes after.
Mechanism of Action
Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death. Dexamethasone is a potent corticosteroid that suppresses the inflammatory response and inhibits the migration of leukocytes, reducing inflammation, swelling, and redness.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Rapid (symptomatic relief may begin within minutes to hours).
Excretion
Systemic excretion (renal/fecal) occurs if significant absorption takes place.
Half life
Local duration of action, systemic half-life is not clinically significant for topical application.
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption after topical ophthalmic administration; good ocular penetration.
Metabolism
Minimal local metabolism; systemic metabolism (hepatic) occurs if absorbed.
