Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual recommended dose for adults and adolescents 12 years and older is 5 mg (one tablet) once daily in the evening.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is routinely required in elderly patients with normal renal function. Dose adjustment may be necessary in case of renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment is required based on creatinine clearance. For CrCl 30-49 mL/min: 5 mg every other day. For CrCl 10-29 mL/min: 5 mg twice a week.
How to Take
Liset 5 mg tablet should be taken orally with or without food. It is generally recommended to take it in the evening due to its potential to cause drowsiness.
Mechanism of Action
Liset (Levocetirizine) works by blocking the action of histamine, a natural substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. By selectively inhibiting H1-receptors, it reduces allergic reactions.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Onset of action typically occurs within 15-30 minutes.
Excretion
Primarily excreted unchanged in the urine, accounting for about 85% of the dose.
Half life
The plasma elimination half-life is approximately 7-10 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations reached within approximately 1 hour.
Metabolism
Minimally metabolized; less than 14% of the dose is metabolized in humans.

Central Nervous System (CNS) Depressants
Concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressants may lead to additive reductions in alertness and performance.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness in adults and agitation or restlessness followed by drowsiness in children. Management includes symptomatic and supportive treatment. There is no specific antidote.
