Description
Overview of the medicine
Fexten 30 mg Suspension is an antihistamine medication containing Fexofenadine, primarily used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). It helps alleviate sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, watery eyes, and skin itching.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Not typically recommended for adults; adult formulations (tablets) are preferred. If used, 60 mg twice daily or 180 mg once daily based on condition.

Not specifically studied for suspension; adult dosage forms are usually considered.
Renal_impairment
Initial dose 30 mg once daily for children 2-11 years with impaired renal function (CrCl ≤ 80 mL/min).
How to Take
Oral administration. Shake well before use. Use a calibrated measuring device to ensure accurate dosing. Can be taken with or without food.
Mechanism of Action
Fexofenadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It binds to H1 receptors, preventing histamine from binding and exerting its effects, thereby inhibiting histamine-mediated allergic symptoms without causing significant sedation due to its poor ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Approximately 1 hour

Approximately 11-15 hours

Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose include dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Management is symptomatic and supportive; consider gastric lavage and activated charcoal if overdose is recent.
