Lab Monitoring

• No routine lab monitoring is needed for most patients. Magnesium levels may need monitoring with long-term use (typically >3 months).

Doctor Notes

• Counsel patients on the proper administration of esomeprazole (before meals, swallow whole).
• Educate patients about potential long-term risks with prolonged PPI use and the importance of regular follow-up.
• Consider using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to achieve therapeutic goals.

Patient Guidelines

• Take Finix 30-60 minutes before your meal, preferably in the morning.
• Swallow the capsule whole; do not chew, crush, or open it.
• Do not stop taking the medication abruptly without consulting your doctor.
• Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements.

Missed Dose Advice

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for a missed one.

Driving Precautions

Generally considered safe for driving. However, if you experience dizziness or visual disturbances, avoid driving or operating machinery until you feel well.

Lifestyle Advice

• Avoid trigger foods such as spicy, fatty, or acidic foods that may worsen your symptoms.
• Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of large ones.
• Avoid lying down immediately after eating; wait at least 2-3 hours.
• Elevate the head of your bed for GERD symptoms.
