Overview of the medicine
Diosmin is a naturally occurring flavonoid glycoside used as a phlebotonic and vascular protecting agent. It is primarily used in the treatment of venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For chronic venous insufficiency: 1 tablet daily. For acute hemorrhoidal attacks: 3 tablets twice daily for the first 4 days, then 2 tablets twice daily for 3 days. For chronic hemorrhoids: 1 tablet daily.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required.

Mechanism of Action
Diosmin prolongs the vasoconstrictor effect of noradrenaline on the venous wall, increasing venous tone. It also reduces capillary hyperpermeability and improves lymphatic drainage.
